Surface Preparation
Ensure the concrete is sound and clear of any foreign materials such as oil, grease, dust, and laitance. For optimal durability, saw-cut the repair perimeter 1/8” deeper than the repair depth to create a notched, reinforced edge. Mechanically abrade the surface to a minimum CSP 5, as per ICRI 310.2 guidelines. All surfaces must be saturated-surface-damp (SSD) with no standing water.
Priming/Scrub Coat
Remove rust from exposed steel reinforcing and coat with SpecPrep SB. The prepared concrete must be SSD and primed with a spray or brush coat of SpecPrep SB, applied wet-on-wet or within the recommended open time. Alternatively, scrub a thin layer of the mixed mortar into the pre-dampened substrate with a stiff brush and apply the mortar before the bond coat dries.
Mixing
Mix 4.5 to 5.0 pints of clean water per 50-pound bag, depending on desired consistency. Use a low-speed drill for mixing, adding the water first, followed by the RepCon H-350 powder. Mix for 2-3 minutes and use within the setting period. RepCon H-350 is suitable for applications ranging from 1/4” to 2” per lift.
Placement
Trowel or screed RepCon H-350 firmly into the prepared area, ensuring intimate contact with the bonding surface. Allow it to reach initial set, then finish with hand troweling.
Deep Applications
For repairs exceeding 2”, extend RepCon H-350 with clean, SSD, 3/8” aggregate up to 50% by weight. Mix an additional 2 minutes and place within 15-20 minutes.
