Application

Substrate Preparation

  • Surfaces must be solid, clean, and free from loose or damaged concrete, dust, dirt, and other substances that could impair adhesion.
  • Create a roughened surface texture to enhance bonding.
  • Area should be saturated surface dry (SSD) with no standing water.
  • Apply a no slump bond coat of Por-Rok Concrete Patch or a bonding agent like Strong Bond before patching. Ensure bond coat remains wet before application.

Steel Exposure and Rebar

  • Fully expose and clean all reinforcing steel, maintaining a minimum clearance of 3/4 inch.
  • Follow ICRI Technical Guidelines No. 03730 for preparation.
  • Patch edges should be saw cut to a depth of 1/4 inch for optimal results.

Mixing Instructions

  • Standard Mixing:Use 3.75 to 4.25 quarts of clean potable water per 50 lb. bag (approx. 1 part water to 5 parts powder). Mix with a low-speed mortar mixer or 1/2 inch drill with a paddle for at least 90 seconds. Do not re-temper.
  • Enhanced Mix:Use 1 gallon of Strong Bond per 50 lb. bag in place of water, mixing thoroughly as above. Do not re-temper.

Application Method

  • Apply freshly mixed mortar promptly and press firmly into the prepared area for full surface contact.
  • Overfill slightly and sculpt with a steel trowel after initial set.
  • Lightly mist with water to aid final shaping if needed.
  • For deep repairs, apply in layers. Score each prior layer after set to promote bond with subsequent layers.

Additional Application Notes

  • Consult technical datasheets for related products for detailed guidance.
  • Protect application from freezing for a minimum of 24 hours.
  • Do not use accelerators, admixtures, or other foreign chemicals.
