SpecChem K-Set

SpecChem K-Set

Non-corrosive accelerating admixture

K-Set is a non-corrosive accelerating admixture that does not contain calcium chloride. This admixture speeds up the hydration of cement, leading to quicker setting times and significant early strength gains. K-Set enhances workability, helps prevent segregation, and is beneficial in the early stiffening of mortar and stucco mixes. Formulated as an aqueous solution of organic and inorganic compounds, K-Set generates rapid heat development in mortar, which is critical for preventing freezing at low temperatures soon after application. This product is V.O.C. compliant.

  • Accelerates Setting Times: Shortens setting times by one to three hours, crucial for efficient project timelines.
  • Freeze Protection: Accelerates early strength to help safeguard against freezing.
  • Enhanced Workability: Boosts production efficiency by improving mortar workability and reducing set times.
  • Strong Early Development: Generates high early strength, vital for structural integrity.
  • Corrosion Prevention: Ideal for applications where the corrosive effects of calcium chloride are a concern.
  • Environmentally Conscious: Fully compliant with environmental V.O.C. standards.

Application

IncorporateK-Setinto the water used for mixing mortars. It can also be added directly to the sand or the full mix but shouldneverbe mixed with dry cement or pre-mixed with other additives. The following dosages are recommended based on the type of cement and environmental conditions:

  • Portland Cement:18 to 46 oz per 94 lb bag.
  • Masonry Cement:10 to 25 oz per bag. The specific dosage should be fine-tuned based on the materials and conditions of each project.

Packaging

  • 55 gallon drums
  • 5 gallon pails
  • 1 gallon jugs (sold in cases of 4)

Shelf Life

Store K-Set in its original sealed container to maintain a shelf life of 1 year from the date of manufacture. Keep the container free from water, dirt, and other contaminants.

Standards

K-Set adheres to ASTM C-494 and ASTM C-270 standards, qualifying it as a non-chloride masonry accelerator that meets industry standards.
