Today's PCS Pulse is brought to you by ProContractor Supply Controller Jeanette Brezeale.
Construction isn’t always an easy path - historically male-dominated, it often requires women to work harder to prove themselves and earn a seat at the table. The construction industry demands grit, resilience, and a willingness to embrace being uncomfortable. At PCS, I am fortunate to be surrounded by women who embody these traits and so much more, consistently raising the bar for what leadership, collaboration, and skill look like in our industry.
What is often overlooked is that the diverse workforce we see today didn’t happen overnight. It was built by generations of women who broke barriers to make women on job sites, designing or leading projects, and even running companies a common occurrence in our space. Women make up less than 15% of the construction workforce, but their contributions have shaped some of the most monumental projects in history, including the Brooklyn Bridge and Trump Tower. I’ve personally had the privilege of working alongside many powerful women at the project management, engineering, and leadership level, whose expertise and vision inspire me every day.

From my perspective in accounting and finance, I see another critical side of construction. Behind every successful project are the finance, accounting, and credit teams ensuring budgets are accurate, resources are allocated efficiently, and organizations remain profitable and sustainable. I’ve experienced firsthand how careful financial planning and collaboration with other ProContractor Supply teams can make the difference between delays and smooth execution. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that the work I do helps our customers succeed and keeps projects moving forward.
I deeply respect the determination it takes to succeed in this industry. Whether on a job site, managing projects, or supporting the financial side that keeps everything moving, women in construction are making a meaningful impact every day. They are also paving the way for future generations, showing young women that there is a place for them in a rewarding industry where skill, strength, and accountability matter.
To the women who continue to build, lead, and support from every side of the operation, your work matters, and the industry is stronger because of you. Keep showing up and showing out!
