PCS Pulse: Stay Steady - Preventing Slips, Trips, and Falls on the Jobsite

At ProContractor Supply, safety isn’t just a weekly topic - it’s a daily commitment. This week’s focus is on something that affects every one of us, every day: Slips, Trips, and Falls. These incidents are among the most common causes of workplace injuries, yet they’re also some of the easiest to prevent with a little awareness and care.

Here are 3 key ways to stay safe:

1. Maintain 3 Points of Contact
When climbing ladders, steps, or getting in and out of vehicles or equipment, always maintain 3 points of contact - 2 hands and 1 foot, or 2 feet and 1 hand. Avoid carrying anything that keeps you from holding on securely. Move carefully and take your time; rushing often leads to accidents.

2. Practice Good Housekeeping
A clean jobsite is a safe jobsite. Keep walkways and work areas clear of cords, debris, spills, and tools. Wipe up spills immediately and use signage when floors are wet or freshly cleaned. Store tools and materials in designated areas to reduce clutter and prevent trip hazards.

3. Watch Your Step
Footwear matters - choose shoes or boots with solid traction. Be extra cautious on uneven ground, stairs, or in low-light areas. If you spot a hazard like a loose mat, damaged flooring, or poor lighting, report it right away.

Most slip, trip, and fall incidents are completely preventable. Staying alert, maintaining clean and organized work areas, and using proper techniques make all the difference.

And when it comes to safety gear, ProContractor Supply has you covered. From high-traction boots and gloves to safety vests, hard hats, and fall protection equipment, PCS provides everything you need to stay safe and productive on the job.

At the end of the day, safety is everyone’s responsibility. Let’s do our part to protect ourselves and our teammates—so every worker goes home safe.
